Meeting Notes

Guest tonight:  Mike Velazquez from Jazz station Jazz 90.1 WGMC, friend of Joey Pierleoni.

Business Meeting tonight.

Last week's event at the Legacy at Cranberry Landing was a success and there was a very good turnout of residents and Rotarians.  Thanks to Lily Schwock for leading the effort!

Our club's Polar Plunge volunteers raised around $4000 for Special Olympics.  Great Job!

The Board voted to approve donations to Rochester SW Rotary breakfast fundraiser ($50) and to Holly Evans fundraising efforts ($150) of doing 2 marathons on 2 continents in 8 days.  The club discussed increasing money for SW Rotary to make a total of $200 with others mentioning the donations they already made plus some new pledges.

Next week we will hear from ROC E6 Lacrosse Program which is run by a friend of President Brandon.

The Board has also agreed to support Shire at Culverton for next year with another Tailgate Party and Lynn Wozniak is working with them to determine other projects that we can support.

Membership:  we will add the mention of New Member budget of $500 for a community project as an additional incentive to prospective members.  Lots of discussion ensued from current new members who have yet to complete their project.  Talks of joining together to do projects with even more impact.  Several ideas floated that they will entertain.

There will be a social event on April 29th, more details soon.  Discussion about starting a new fundraiser with a Mini Golf Tournament - more details to come.

St. Patrick's Day Party at St. Ann's is all set with the dancers arranged.  Steve Schwock will follow up with Lou DiPrima to see if afghans will be available again this year to hand out.

Call for Club Officers for next Rotary Year:  President Elect Steve Schwock still needs people to step up.  Please see Steve if you are willing to be President Elect, Treasurer, or Secretary.   Also need committee heads especially to re-invigorate the Youth Services (RYLA, Scholarships, Interact, Exchange).  Lynn Wozniak and Jim Kozlowski expressed interest in being on Youth Committee next year but this will require someone to fill Lynn's role as Treasurer.  President Brandon reports that Robert Spatola will step up to handle Student Scholarships this year.

Dave Shaheen is working with Glendoveer's to be the site of the Reverse Drawdown Dinner again this year.  Potential dates are May 13 or May 20.  Need people to step up and sell dinner tickets as more people eating dinner make financials better for the venue.

Calendar:  President Brandon has taken another job to be a Lacrosse Coach at McQuaid so he will be missing some upcoming meetings.  He has arranged for members to run the meetings in his absence but will continue doing the other fine work of President as he's been doing.

The Bike Racks for Town Hall are on order and Lynn is working with the vendor on proper signage for our club and as a memorial to longtime member Guy Kittelsen.

2027 will be our Club's 60th Anniversary of being chartered by the Brighton Rotary Club.  Keep thinking of ideas how we can celebrate this wonderful achievement of contributing to our community and beyond for 60 years.

See Lynn Wozniak if interested in attending Eastern Cities Dinner on April 17th at Locust Hill.  Lynn, Doug, Dan and Tom are going.  Please let Lynn know by Monday if you are planning to attend.  She will do the registration and then each member can reimburse the Club.  Tickets are $75.

Treasurer's Report:  Budget in great shape.  Monies from Pasta Dinner are finalized.  YE fundraising balance is projected to be greater than expected so additional funds will be moved into the Signature Project CD in May.  All good news.  Thanks Lynn for keeping everything humming!
