Pasta Dinner Review 

Highest revenue ever recorded!  Once all checks come in and expenses paid, we expect to have earned $3,000-$4,000 more net income than last year which was a record!  Congratulations to all who helped make this fundraiser a tremendous success.  The Lottery Raffle for Pasta Dinner ticket sellers was randomly selected and the big winner is…..LEE STEINFELDT!  Congrats Lee!  

Dictionary Project

Kenn Van Dieren says that the dictionaries have arrived.  Ray Holla is hoping for a big turnout on Saturday, November 22 at 9AM at Lou DiPrima's HEATED garage.  We will put Rotary labels into the dictionaries before they are handed out to all 3rd graders in Irondequoit.  Ray will share the schedule of school Dictionary Days once it is established.  Hope is to be all done by year-end.

Christmas Tree Lighting Event at the Town Hall

Shop with a Cop

Date is Saturday, Dec-6 at Irondequoit Rec Center/Target.  Lynn Wozniak is purchasing Target Gift Cards that we can donate to the Police event.  Louis DiPrima will give details soon.

David Young, from DePaul National Council on Alcohol and Drug Dependence (NCADD-RA) was our speaker tonight.  NCADD-RA provides evidence-based substance use and problem gambling prevention services to a diverse population through education, support, resources, advocacy and referral.  David emphasized that their main mission is on EDUCATION but provide much more in terms of referral to agencies that provide prevention and dependency services.  He has been in the “addiction” business for over 30 years.  Gambling has become a bigger problem now that it is legalized and on many young men's phones.  It is a much easier addiction to hide from others (vs alcohol and drugs).  David reviewed and handed out several items made available to the public from his agency.  These included: (1) RxGuardian bags (used to lock up and eliminate the odor of medicinal cannabis), (2) Narcan which is used to reverse an opioid overdose - David advised to keep the narcan with you in your car even if it may reduce its “use by” date - “any narcan is better than no narcan; and (3) Deterra bags which are used to deactivate unneeded drugs in a safe manner.

David passed along information that the recent NY law that restricted use of cell phones in schools is working very well.  Students are more social with those around them and more present in class.  Downside is that teachers now have to handle the age-old issue of too much talking in class (a welcomed problem by most teachers!).
