Dan Dwyer updated the club on plans for 2 upcoming events. On May 2nd and 3rd, the Raise A Glass Foundation is holding its annual GREAT AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL WINE COMPETITION. Wineries from all over the world send wine to this competition to be judged. Dan is looking for 5-6 of our club members to attend and help rinse glasses, serve wine, etc. during this weekend. Several members attended in the past and really enjoyed it. There are several other Rochester area Rotary clubs also participating as volunteers: Webster, Penfield, Honeoye Falls Mendon, & Rochester SW with Brighton and Roc City "considering" participation. Since there is more wine sent in than actually used during the competition, there will be surplus wine that will be gifted to these Rotary Clubs for helping out. This surplus wine will be used to run a new fundraiser that will benefit Camp Haccamo and the participating Rotary clubs. This fundraiser will be held on July 6th in the Grand Ballroom of the Downtown Holiday Inn and is called ROC CITY UNCORKED. It actually is a resurrection of a fundraiser that was held 10 years ago with the same name. The goal is to have 600 attendees. It will be a cocktail party with a grazing dinner and dancing, There will be auctions of food, beverage and leisure packages. Sponsorships are also available. Tickets are $125. Proceeds will be split: 10% back to Raise the Glass Foundation, 45% to Camp Haccamo, and the remaining 45% split among the participating Rotary Clubs. |
