Program Notes

Lily Schwock works at Encompass,  which preps students for success in college and careers.  “Paths to bright futures begin here!”

Programs include: K-12 Academic Support and Tutoring, Wraparound Navigation (includes family participation), College & Career Readiness.

They provide elementary school support and after school and summer intervention. They service Rochester city proper and connect with all the city schools.  After school program starts at 4 and ends at 6pm.

They do college prep and tutor for SAT’s etc.  Help with credit recovery.  And case management.

Future Ready is the program that Lily focuses on.  Whole child, whole family.  All is connected.  Cradle to college and career ready…families are included in all they do. Also help parents with life skills.

Future Ready is EnCompass’ year-round college and career readiness initiative, preparing them for high school graduation and post-secondary success through exposure to college and career pathways:

  • Career Spotlights and Enrichments
  • Network Opportunities
  • College tours and readiness academy
  • College Application and FAFSA Support

She works with 26 students and students can enroll online; it is a free service to all students.  They do college and non-college careers - connected to many trade associations. Encompass partners with lots of colleges and industry trade    Future ready started in 2019, and 2,934 teens certified work ready since then.  They also have some driver training and lots of community based hands-on experiences.  Many students come with lower reading levels but it is getting better.

Lily chaperones students to DC to visit colleges and see the tourist sites.  A few applied to Howard.  19 went last year.   She also does NY school tours.

Funding:  Charter schools pay rent, several fed and state grants, Private donors.  Encompass also has a foundation that they also can access.

Encompass was started by the Sands Family as a reading intervention program and has grown to what it is now.
