Steve reminded those who hadn’t signed up for the installation dinner to do so ASAP.  Lilly was sending another email to those who didn’t receive the first one. Steve reminded members that he is still looking for a VP. 

Lou reminded everyone to wear their red Rotary shorts for the July 4th parade.  Lynn reminded folks that we will have a table set-up in the Farmer’s Market from 11 am- 5 pm during the town festivities.   Volunteers are needed to man the table, please contact Lynn if you are able to help.  

Doug suggested that we update next year’s budget to purchase more candy for the July 4th parade. Lou suggested that we hide 5-6 bags in the car for the end of the parade. 

A reminder about the July 1st Networking event on Wednesday July 1st  4:30 – 6:00pm at the Sicilian Club with the Scheidt family, his Rotary and QVI family to celebrate his retirement.  There will be an open wine and beer bar.  There will be a cash bar for anything else. Hot hors d'oeuvres will also be served. Please contact Bob Scheidt with any questions. 

Peter and Anne Kelderhouse donated in memory of Past President of Irondequoit Rotary and founder of the Latino Rotary Club

The Foundation has a new slate of officers: Tom as President, Lily as VP, Bob Scheidt as Treasurer and Therese as Secretary.  This new board starts on July1, 2026.

Ray confirmed that there will be a new VP and Treasurer at Camp Haccamo.  The organization is still looking for a President.

Our first speaker was Mary Jo Gugino Colligan, the founder of Angels of Mercy.   The organization protects, educates, and empowers women and girls facing domestic violence, human trafficking, and other crises. It helps vulnerable women rebuild their lives through three core programs: Butterfly Boutique, Anti-human trafficking awareness and Dress a Girl.

Mary Jo shared that, now more than ever before, we are serving and caring for more women who are displaced, victimized by injustices, those who are fire victims, underserved and homeless. She said one of the biggest upticks in need has been fires. 

The organization has reached a major milestone as it has made 200,000 dresses that have been shipped to over 75 countries.

Mary Jo wanted to remind us of an upcoming fundraiser at Bill Gray's Webster, NY (964 Ridge Rd.) Thursday July 9, 2026, 4:30-8:30 pm. Mention “Angels of Mercy” at time of purchase or use code “fundraiser” for online orders. 

Our next speaker was Andrea Calloway, MS, RN, Nurse Director of Sunset House. She shared that the home provides the dying and their loved ones with support, comfort, and care in a safe, peaceful and loving environment that allows death with dignity and grace. The resident maintains control and is assisted through this time of transition. They are there to support, so as to decrease the stress and anxiety of the residents and their families.  There are no financial requirements for the residents or their families to be admitted to our house. The resident selection is based upon the person or situation which presents the most immediate need.

She was grateful for the numerous enhancements that have been made to the house over the last year. The organization is always looking for volunteers and assistance with home repairs.  Andrea handed out their 2026 newsletter.

She wanted to remind folks who are going to the Town’s 4th of July festivities to park at the Paul Harris Funeral parking lot as all funds collected go to the Sunset House.

Happy dollars- many dollars for the speakers, our guest – Don Wood-Brandon’s leadership, Steve’s new role and in memory of Luisa.  Lily put in money for being late.  She also mentioned that her grandmother was in a comfort home, and she visited often and appreciated the wonderful care they gave to her.  Steve paid for no pin, the changeover and everyone’s good health. Joe Culligan was grateful for Rotary acknowledging the Angels of Mercy.  Mary Jo put in money for the Sunset House, Rotarians and the changeover dinner.  Andrea paid a fine for allowing her and Angles of Mercy to speak. Dave put in money for Brandon’s great organization skills and for Steve stepping up for the role. Dave also paid a fine for a new home.  Bob Scheidt for Dave’s support of foundation and new concerns about the foundation’s mailing address. Tom for an action-packed trip to Michigan.. Lynn bought a new camper to spend time with the girls, she put money in for missing the presentations, a trip to Michigan and that Brandon survived. Kenn for hearing stories before and they never get old. Dick for the how fortunate the community is to have such great organizations such as Angels of Mercy and the Sunset House. . Lou paid for a memory of Luisa who he taught how to make canned olives and for Brandon’s wardrobe. Robert for Lori’s upcoming hip surgery. Ray for Mary Jo to give a hug to Jen. Brandon for a wonderful year and learning so much.  He really appreciated the support and flexibility the club gave him to coach.
