Meeting Notes

Terri Bastuk took notes tonight.   Thanks Terri!

Thanks to Tom who led the business meeting this evening!

The meeting started with a surprise birthday celebration for Lynn flush with a layer cake and candles!

Tom provided an update on the District Grant which is due April 1st.  The $4000 grant request is to support a portion of the club’s Signature Project to support the Town’s playground (equipment, benches, band shelter, etc.). The club has committed $50,000 toward the project. We have already committed to a bike rack to recognize Guy Kittelsen, leveraging donations from the family.

Lynn is looking at global grants-there are many that are small grants that are out there where we could make a difference.  Some of these grants require small monetary commitments to finalize a project.

The Drawdown is off to a roaring start!  Once again, Lee was a tremendous help with the ticket design.  The tickets will be printed in the next week. Members have already paid their $100 to secure their spot.

 New business topic.

Bob Scheidt presented a proposal regarding ROCmusic in front of the Irondequoit Rotary Foundation, so there is no action for the club. ROCmusic is supported through 6 other entities in Rochester leveraging the collective resources of Rochester’s major cultural organizations, educational institutions, and governmental agencie. Their mission is to provide exceptional music education and performance experiences for youth residing in the City of Rochester, through year-long community-based programming and resident-informed activities. The organization cannot raise funds because it does not have 501(c)(3) status.  There is a proposal on the table to set up Irondequoit Rotary Foundation as the Sponsor Organization to allow  ROCmusic  to seek government grants.  In exchange for the support from the foundation, Roc Music could help with any club’s musical needs.

Lynn presented the budget. There was a discussion about how to apply the surplus of dinner revenue.  Some suggested the funds be applied to the changeover.

Bob Spatola will lead the scholarship awards this year.

Steve is  looking to help with the interact club next year.

Karl, Joey, Robert, and Tony need to decide on their funds on how to spend their new member funds.

Kenn, Bob Spatola, Les and others need to decide on a VA project.

Dan is committing to the garden project and gardening around the Rotary lighthouse.

Steve is working on the changeover dinner.

A thank you note from Greece Rotary was sent as their pasta dinner surpassed their goal.

The club received a thank you note from ROC Ecology Partners and the help they received from our club.

Some members went to the Taste of Pittsford organized by the Pittsford Rotary. The event was very well organized and had a great silent auction.
