Meeting Notes
District Governor Mike Slovak will be our speaker at the October 3rd meeting.  Lee Steinfeldt saw his presentation at another meeting and highly recommends all members not to miss it.

The club would like to make a good showing for the Eastern Cities Dinner (Oct. 28 at Convention Center - club covers half your cost) and Josie Waverly Dinner (November 16th).  Please sign up at next meeting.

No new member recruits came to membership meeting last week.  Upcoming meetings at Dick & Linda Butler's house are Oct. 15, Nov 12, and Dec 6.  Please invite your friends and acquaintances to come to a meeting to learn about Rotary membership.

St. Patrick's Day Party will be Wednesday, March 13th.  St. Valentine's Party will be at Legacy Landing but date is still TBD.

Program Notes
Debra Ortiz-Pardi is Community Educator for The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.  The Rochester Office is at 275 Lake Avenue in Rochester.  National headquarters are in Alexandria, Virgina.  The non-profit organization started in 1984 and its main mission is to find missing children and reduce child sexual exploitation.  They serve as a clearinghouse for all information on missing children across the nation.  The founder was John Walsh (America's Most Wanted) who started it after his son was abducted.  They specialize in connecting information from many databases and manage resources to help find missing children.  Other services include:  working with families during their ordeal, counseling, advocacy, managing a 24 hr national hotline, a tipline for reporting child sexual exploitation, supporting law enforcement in these areas.  Another huge effort is on providing training and education for school children and teachers.  Some funding is from the government but most comes from private funding events.
