Program Notes
Dr. Aaron Johnson, Superintendent, and James Brennan, Finance, from West Irondequoit School District are in the final stages of setting the 2021/22 school budget, a process that started last May shortly after the voter election on the previous year budget.   The entire process is centered on one main mission - what is best for the STUDENTS.  "All means ALL" is the rally cry as the goal is to leave no students left behind.  This year has been a tremendously stressful year with all the daily decisions needed due to the pandemic.  Much of the budget needed to be realigned to account for these changes done with all the financial constraints that exist.

The school district is a major asset to the town attested by high rankings against peer schools both locally and nationally along with high graduation rates.  The 2021/22 New York State Budget allocated to schools includes federal covid money given to the state so a number of NYS decisions impacting schools were therefore favorable.  Foundation Aid increased but is still not at 100% so the school district savings had to be used which is not sustainable.  Federal Stimulus money ($8.5M) also comes directly to the school district but must be spent to close gaps due to covid and under a specific timetable.  The 2021/22 budget is expected to see some increases in expenditures offset with an increase in revenues so the use of savings dollars should be much less this year.  Expenditure increases will occur in both non-personnel areas (+3.8%) and personnel (salaries & benefits) (+2.7%).

The budget proposal will soon go to the school board for approval.  Thanks to Dr. Aaron Johnson and James Brennan for an informative review of the school budget and the behind-the-scenes work that is required to make it all come together for the benefit of the students.
Contributions/Fines
Multiple contributions for the health of club members and family.  Rocco Leone has covid but is recovering.  Lynn Wozniak's dog was hit by a car but the car sustained more damage than her dog who is doing fine.  Tough dog!  Dick Butler had a nice trip to the Comedy Museum in Jamestown and highly recommends it to all.  Les Kaszuba can't believe his business is 40 years old; he had a nice article in the paper about it.  Condolences to Ray Holla as his neighbor was killed during a carjacking in Rochester.  Bob Spatola is a new grandfather to Vito Spatola.  Lou DiPrima had a bad reaction to his second covid shot but is recovering.  President Tom is proud of daughter Colleen's new job with Unilever.
