Meeting Notes
The Irondequoit Rotary Foundation (IRF) is a separate entity from our club.  The new President of the IRF is Bob Scheidt and the VP is Tom Kosanke.  Dave Shaheen is Treasurer.  The IRF is the hosting non-profit for the ROC CITY UnCorked Online Auction which is currently underway as of this writing.  Bidding activity has been brisk and we are off to a good start.  It's not too late to register with a credit card and get involved in the action as it will really heat up when we get closer to the end date of Feb 8th.

Covid Talk:   Guy Kittelsen told us about an oximeter you can get at most drug stores for about $30.  Helps identify any sign of covid early.  Normal reading is 98-99.  If it is below 90 get medical help as you may still feel fine.  Early treatment gives much better results with far less hospital time.   Norb Rappl called the VA to get a vaccine appointment.  The number is 463-2774 #3.  He knows others who called the regular number, 463-2600, and got appointments also.

Program Notes
Our Speaker tonight was Mary Rose McBride, VP Marketing at Lifespan who has been with the company for 29 years.  Lifespan is a regional nonprofit serving Monroe and surrounding Finger Lakes counties, NY.  Lifespan provides information, guidance and more than 30 services for older adults and caregivers.

In 2014, Irondequoit hired Lifespan to do a senior study of the town to identify age-friendly needs.  Since then, many things like the senior housing at the Skyview Park Apartments at the old Irondequoit Mall location have already been implemented.  The town also works with Lifespan to provide: (1) Home Safe Home Program - a free service that checks a seniors home for prevention of potential falls, and (2) I-Ride - help seniors with mobility needs for $8 per ride (uses UBER).

Lifespan has a staff of over 150 people, started in the early 1970's and has a main office in Brighton.  Other services include: Bill Pay and Budgeting Assistance, Limited Power of Attorney Services, Zoom Classes/Webinars, & more recently - helping seniors get a Covid vaccination appointment.
Contributions/Fines
Lots of contributions for:  ROC CITY UnCorked progress, our Speaker, Kim Miranda's next procedure planned for Feb 17th and her new puppy,  Lou DiPrima's newly attached bicep tendon (they had to replace it with Popeye's for correct sizing).  Louis DiPrima is a year older and Dave Long is running for County Legislator.
