Meeting Notes
Major General (Ret) Norbert J. Rappl passed away on Tuesday, March 16, 2022.  The Irondequoit Rotary Club is deeply saddened and will truly miss Norb's leadership, his generosity of time, talents & treasure, and certainly his camaraderie.   The club extends its deepest condolences to Bernice and  family who we all consider part of our Irondequoit Rotary FAMILY.

In addition to the many accomplishments mentioned in the obituary below, Norb was the last surviving Charter Member of the Irondequoit Rotary Club established in 1967.  He is a Past President of our club, a Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow, and former editor of the club bulletin for many years.  Norb served as the chairman of the club's Paul Harris committee.  In this role during our annual Installation Dinners, Norb surprised and congratulated new Paul Harris Fellows with a charm and wit that will never be duplicated.  His speaking and "roasting" talents were world class.

Norb's  family will receive friends Wednesday, March 23, 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Paul Harris Funeral Home (570 Kings Highway So.). Friends are invited to meet the family Thursday, March 24, 10:00 am at St. Kateri at Christ the King Church for his Funeral Mass.

The regular weekly Irondequoit Rotary meeting for Wednesday, March 23, is cancelled.

The meeting tonight was held upstairs at Merchants Grill and it was a positive experience.   There is still another venue that we will consider in the coming weeks.   We will be at Brody's on the Bay for our meeting on March 30th and April 6th.

The meeting opened with a prayer for General Major Rappl and a rendition of God Bless America.  After a short club business meeting, the evening was spent sharing stories and memories of Norbert.  His 55th club anniversary would have been on March 27th as the last surviving charter member of our club.

Rest in Peace, Major General Norbert Rappl and thank you for your tremendous service to our nation, our community, and to our club.
