B.J. Cunningham introduced Andrea Calloway, Director of Sunset House and Lyn Czop, a volunteer at the hospice on St. Paul Street. Andrea is the new Director and everyone that works at the house loves what they do. It’s a house of love. The people they meet develop great friendships. The hospice is always in need of funding as they do not receive any government money. Payroll has gone up recently because a program that was supplying free night aides has been eliminated. Our club's donation of a new toilet last year was very much needed and appreciated. Sunset House has been open for 33 years and they are very fortunate to receive help and donations from the local community. Recently they housed their 650th resident. The house closed during Covid and reopened in 2021. Lyn Czop is a volunteer at Sunset House. Her husband had cancer and needed hospice so she visited Sunset House. It’s a home and is cozy & warm so it’s what she wanted for her husband. Sunset House made her experience as easy as it could be for her so she felt very grateful. She became a volunteer years later when she was ready for something different. Now a volunteer for 2 years. She gets a lot out of it because she is there for the resident and for the grieving families. Still need more volunteers so help if you can. If she can do it, anyone can! Very worthwhile experience and feels she is really giving back to the community. Over 65 volunteers now but always need more. Dan presented our club's donation at the end of the presentation. |
