Business Meeting tonight. The club is in a very good financial position but will continue to be fiscally conservative due to the pandemic. Dictionary Project will go ahead this year again but dictionaries will be dropped off at school and distributed by the school. The annual Rotarian in-school distribution to all 3rd grade classes will not happen this year due to Covid. So far, our club has distributed 7,700 dictionaries in the 13 years this project has been done. Discussions on plans for the Drawdown fundraiser this year will be held off until after the ROC CITY UnCorked Auction as many members are busy with that effort. A "virtual" Drawdown event will be considered once planning gets underway. B.J. Cunningham is exploring options to replace our Valentine's Day and St. Patrick's Day parties that are cancelled due to Covid. She will report to the club over the next few weeks on her ideas for senior projects to take the place of these parties. For the last few Speakers at our club, we offered to make a $20 donation to a charity of their choice. President Tom will make sure that happens. For future club Speakers, we will change the "Speaker Gift" to be a $25 donation to Camp Haccamo in their name. New Member Club Projects are being discussed. Jill Orologio, Elena Barbone, and Andrea Sauer are working together on a potential playground project, Dave Long on a Small Business Project, and Aaron Johnson on a School Foundation project. More details to follow. Terri Bastuk & President Tom will schedule a meeting with Supervisor Dave Seeley to find new projects needed in the town. President Tom would like to resurrect the Rotary Sign project so that the town signs are current with branding and point to our website for meeting times and location. The Irondequoit Chamber will honor Dave Seeley as their Person of the Year at a meeting on February 5th. See the CHAMBER WEBSITE for more information and to register. District Simplified Grant (DSG) is a grant from Rotary District 7120 that our club applies for each year. We need to determine a project for the grant and submit a grant proposal to the District by April 1st. Please see President Tom or Terri Bastuk with any ideas. Lee Steinfeldt will once again lead the Student Scholarship project this year. In a call for committee members to help her, Ray Holla and Dave Shaheen stepped up and will be on the committee. ROC CITY UnCorked Auction work is progressing. Please continue to urge friends and family to register at the ROC CITY UnCorked Auction website before the Feb 1 start of the auction. The 200+ auction items should be loaded up in a website and available for previews next week. The club has contributed greatly to this event and hopes for its great success. Camp Haccamo and the 6 sponsoring Rotary clubs will be the beneficiaries of this fundraiser. |
