Meeting Notes
Passing of Guy Kittelsen:  The club learned this week of the passing of long-time Irondequoit Rotarian Guy Kittelsen.  We are all grieving his loss and extend warm condolences to Guy's family and friends.  Guy was a true gentleman in every sense of the word.  He was a 53 year member, Past President, Paul Harris Fellow and Sustained Member of Rotary Foundation.   Guy was Program Director and Bulletin Editor for many years.  His many talks on his time in the service (e.g., witnessing the Atomic Bomb trials,  work in Korea) or his travels were always entertaining and enlightening.  He will be truly missed.  The club held a moment of silence in Guy's honor.  There will be a memorial service for Guy sometime in May.  More news as it is available.   For photos of Guy's time in Rotary, click HERE.

Program Notes
Rochester Police Membership Drive:  Sgt. Collins of the Rochester Police Department is a 21 year RPD officer and currently a recruiter.  He is also a member of the Rochester Rotary.  Numbers are down and Sgt. Collins has been visiting Rotary Clubs and other community groups to get the word out that there is a need for policeman in the city.  He highlighted the benefits associated with RPD:  highest paid in county, college tuition and other benefits and fulfilling a service role in the community who truly needs it.   For more info, click HERE.

War on Terror Memorial:  Amy Folwell, is the Director for the War on Terror Memorial in Rochester.  She is a Marine veteran and served and in Iraq where she was badly injured in an IED explosion which killed several of her fellow Marines.  The War on Terror Memorial was dedicated on September 11, 2021, the twentieth anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 and is located in Rochester's Memorial Park near the Vietnam Memorial.  It is dedicated to residents of Monroe County and surrounding counties who lost their lives in military conflicts since 1983, including Beirut, the Gulf War, United Shield in Somalia, Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan and Iraqi Freedom.  34 American Heroes are honored there.  The Memorial needs donations for annual maintenance and to add historical information.  The organization is a 501(c)3 and is currently seeking support.  For more info on how to help, click HERE.   New member Joey Pierloni introduced Amy and will be focusing his new member grant in support of the War on Terror Memorial.
