Program Notes

This week's presenter is new Irondequoit Rotary Club member Captain Jessica Franco of the Irondequoit Police Department.  Jessica grew up on a farm in Webster, with her parents, twin brother, younger sister and lots of farm animals. Growing up she was active in sports and competed in equestrian events all over the country.  While attending Monroe Community College she worked at Dunkin' Donuts where she became acquainted with members of the Monroe County Sheriff's Department.  This led to her joining the Sheriff's Department and attending the police academy.  Jessica entered police work in 2006 and worked for the Sheriffs Department and then the Canandaigua Police Department before becoming part of the Irondequoit Police Department.   She quickly rose through the ranks to become the first female Captain of the Irondequoit Police Department in 2019.  Jessica is also a member of the Irondequoit mounted police.

Currently Jessica is the president of the ITALEO Club, a 501.c.3 organization that raises money for families of deceased, disabled and seriously ill law enforcement officers in Monroe County and the surrounding area.  The organization also sponsors scholarships and supports Camp Good Days and Special Times, among other charities.  The ITALEO Club's current project is a fund raiser to benefit the family of Lieutenant Aaron Colletti who was hit by a car and died while riding bikes with his son.  Members of the Rotary club will be helping out with the Casino Night on Saturday, May 21, 2022.
