Membership:  Lou DiPrima is working with a new potential member; more info in the near future.

Location Venue:  We will likely meet at Brody's next week (April 20) but look for an email from Terri Bastuk.  We will try another venue: Cobblestone on Main in Webster later this month as another prospective venue before deciding on path forward.  More to come.

Earth Day:  April 30th from 9:30-11:30  - need more volunteers to help clean up the town.  See President Lynn if you can help.

Wine Competition:  April 23 & 24.  We have 12 volunteers so should be all set but see Tom Kosanke if you want to help.

Haccamo Playhouse:  The "plywood" committee is working to secure and apply the plywood before the paint and decorating committee can start.

Drawdown Dinner:  will be held May 26th at Ridgemont Country Club.  Ticket is $100 and dinner is $50 per person.  Thanks to Dave Shaheen for making arrangements and Lee Steinfeldt is creating the tickets to be ready soon.

Paul Harris +:  The Paul Harris Committee would like to establish a date to present members who have achieved their PH+ pins via contributions to the Rotary Foundation.  Tentative date is May 11th meeting.

Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA):  We currently have an applicant from West Irondequoit High School that will attend the leadership training at Finger Lakes Community College and possibly another applicant from East Irondequoit.

The Irondequoit Community Food Cupboard is moving to the Turkish House on Culver Rd.  President Lynn is looking to see if we can help with the move in any way.

Business Meeting next week - April 20th.

Program Notes
Kathleen Blasi was introduced by her cousin Ray Holla.  Kathleen is a children's book author.  Her journey to become an author was very inspiring and she encourages us all to:  "Tap into your inner writer!".   Kathleen brings her personal experiences into her writing - everyone has something to say and something to contribute.  Her 4th grade teacher was a great inspiration by simply telling her what a wonderful story she had written.  She waited until college to really begin to think she would be a writer and let others critique her work which is essential for good writing.  She has 4 published books but has written many, many more.  One book took over 20 years to complete.  So never give up.

Writing is connecting with others so when everyday things inspire her, she notes it down for a potential story.  Little details add authenticity to the story so it is important to add specificity.  Kathleen walked through her writing process to create a children's book.  Much more goes into it than most people think.  She has 3 editors that critique every word and nothing goes out until all three have agreed.  It is also a very collaborative effort with the illustrator who adds much to the telling of the story through their creative art. It's important that children's books are "readable out loud" so a story board spread sheet is created to make sure that pages flow well with the story.

Excellent presentation - thanks to Kathleen for preparing and presenting it and Ray Holla for arranging Kathleen to speak to our club!
