On Saturday November 11th there will be two Veterans Day dedications honoring Major General Norbert J Rappl. The first will be a bench dedication taking place during an 11am Veterans Day Memorial service at the front of Irondequoit Town Hall. The bench is donated to the town by the Irondequoit Rotary Club who wanted to honor Major General Rappl as one of their founding Rotary members and community leader. 

The second dedication will be at 1pm on the Tryon Park overpass over route 590.  At that time there will be a renaming of a portion of route 590 to “Major General Norbert J Rappl Highway”. The portion of 590 renaming will be from Ridge Road in Irondequoit south to Tyron Park overpass.

Major General Rappl was a founding member of Christ the King Church and served as Parish Council President and Trustee. A man of great faith he held almost every lay position in Christ the King and St. Kateri Parishes at one time or another and was a daily communicant for many years.  Major General Norbert J. Rappl, a lifelong resident of Irondequoit,  exemplified what it means to be a pillar of the community, a man of faith, and a man with love for his God, family, and country.

Major General, was the commanding officer for the Army 98th Division.
